Each person’s skin reacts differently—some skin absorbs pigment like a sponge, while other skin resists like a cement wall—so attending the follow-up is essential for the best outcome. Nano Brows commonly last 2 to 3 years and, with excellent aftercare and lifestyle, can last up to 4 years according to some sources. Longevity varies with skin type (oily skin fades faster), aftercare, sun exposure, sweating, skincare acids or retinoids, and individual cell turnover and metabolism. Maintenance touch-ups, typically after the first year or so, help keep results fresh.

Does Permanent Makeup or Microblading Hurt?

Most clients find permanent makeup far less painful than expected because we use a medical-grade numbing cream that includes lidocaine, benzocaine, and tetracaine. This blend creates an effective numbing effect for a comfortable experience whether you are getting microblading, lip tinting, or other services. Some clients may still notice slight discomfort during microblading due to a light scratching sensation, and the tool can make a scratch-like sound that some people find odd—similar to nails on a chalkboard. Overall, with proper numbing, procedures are generally painless for most clients, and many relax enough to fall asleep.

Think about your desired look and openly discuss goals, preferences, and concerns with your artist to align expectations and achieve the most satisfying result.

How should I take care of my brows after my appointment?

Follow aftercare carefully to protect color and retention. Do not wash the area for 24 to 48 hours. Keep the brows lightly moisturized with a thin layer of Aquaphor for at least 10 days, reapplying with a cotton swab and avoiding direct finger contact. For the first 4 hours after the procedure, gently blot the area every 30 minutes to remove excess fluid. For 10 days avoid makeup on the treated area, intense sweating, swimming, tanning, hot saunas, and laser, chemical, or Botox treatments. Aquaphor is recommended due to low irritation risk; if you are allergic, plain petroleum jelly can be used. After healing, use a high-SPF sunscreen on brows and avoid AHA products on the area to reduce fading. Additional lip care: ice the lips every 30 minutes on day one to minimize swelling and bruising; avoid toothpaste and hot foods the first day; for 3 days avoid teeth whiteners, spicy foods or drinks, lemon, salt, and vinegar; use a straw for staining beverages and wear a hat outdoors. Additional eyeliner care: ice eyelids every 30 minutes on day one to reduce swelling and bruising, and avoid eyelash tinting, perming, or extensions for two weeks.

Yes, microblading is a type of tattoo because pigment is implanted into the skin. It differs from traditional tattooing in depth, tools, and longevity. What Is the Healing Process for Microblading?
